It's a Jolly Holiday

Less than a month before I get to Disney it up again!  This time dressing up is mandatory.
Here's my inspiration.  No I'm not going as a penguin. :)
I have her black and white look but I still get to be Mary!
Yes, I have the hat.  Check my insta for my Mary selfie from two years ago.
This is the most paint I have put on my work but between you and me I was NOT going to cut out that many leaves, let alone paste them on.  My FB friends encouraged the Carousel in the background and I love it.  This work was sold and will be put up for auction for a local youth theater program.  I am so proud!

Have a jolly holiday,

Tightrope Girl

I love Disney and Disneyland as well.  I'm California born and raised so Disneyworld hasn't happened yet.  I don't mind if I skip it.
What I love in Disneyland is the Haunted Mansion.  And the tight rope girl has always resonanted with me.  We do our best as girls to be perfect and we know we are one fraying rope from destruction.  Be it real or imaginary.
So this is more like a self-portrait.  I feel put in her situation so often.
As always she and Mr. Crocodile are primarily paper.  Yes, even the the teeth and frayed rope.  I went with painted leaves.  It felt right.

Hurry back,

I've been busy.

So I've done a few complex pieces this year. Some I love, and some will be ignored in the anti brag book. I will post one that needs to be re-done later. For now, there are two I am happy with. First, I was in landscape mode. I wanted to try a cottage without Snow White or Aurora peeking out the window.   I saw a photo of the cutest house and sketched out a similar one.  When I cut out the main house I liked the texture of one side of the paper more than the other, so I flipped the design.

There was also the need to do another princess. I did snow white first, and its a hot mess design wise. I thought I would be cursed. All my Cinderella attempts were not to my liking, and now
Snow White was wrong.  Undaunted, I sketched an Aurora in the forest. After doing her face four different ways I am pleased. I am a fan of the bunnies. They are just too cute.

For mom,

My mom is a big fan of the weird style I've been working on for years.  I sent a dragon last Christmas to Utah.  She wanted one too. So here is dragon and the sleeping knight 2.0

Mirror mirror

Another storybook done in paper. It doesn't match what I had in my head but it is the closest I've come since Wendy. The smoke around the mirror was a last minute add. It wasn't in my original sketch. What do you think?

Cottage of my dreams

New Project.  Trying something without a person this time.  Saw a picture of this house and had to try.  More soon.

A midsummer night's dream

Finished... for now. I can never leave things alone. Its been put in my brag book, I'll check it later.  Fresh eyes and all that.  Next maybe a landscape, or architecture.  No more fairy tales.
